On
June 8-10, 2007 the Armstrong dojo once again played host to the
IKOK-C Brown and Black Belt training camp. Over 30 participants from
our Canadian Branch trained intensely throughout the entire weekend.
The training this year had a clear theme of getting back to the
basics. Shihan Stuart Corrigal who led the training also emphasized
the importance of balance and posture and how they affect all
aspects of our karate, especially when you add something as simple
as a Bo to your training. Of course no training of Shihansf would be
complete if he did not have the class leaving trying to successfully
solve the complex Ido Geiko combinations that he so infamously
challenges us with whenever we see him. Indeed he succeeded.
Saturday evening everyone headed to Sensei Larry Robinsonsf home for
the every so popular barbeque that the Armstrong dojo hosts. It was
the perfect way to wind down from a hard weekend of training and to
connect once again with members from our Kyokushin family. Thanks to
the IKOK-C for hosting such another wonderful event and the members
of the Armstrong dojo for all their work over the weekend.
