24th Annual Canadian Championships
May 5, 2007, BCIT,
BC
On May
5, 2007 the 24th running of the Canadian Championships
was held at the British Columbia Institute for Technology in Burnaby
B.C. This year nearly 150 participants competed throughout the day
in the various kumite divisions. Our Calgary club was fortunate
enough to be represented by two strong fighters. Alex and Ricky
Helfmann along with their parents made the long trip from Calgary to
experience the tournament for the first time. Alex fought hard and
went on to receive 3rd place while Ricky placed a very respectable
4th. Great job guys. Thank you. The
annual Canadian tournament is the longest running of its kind in
North America. 2008 will mark the 25th anniversary of
this tournament; it is my goal that we will be able to send an extra
large group of competitors to next yearfs historic event. Hope to
see you there.
