On
October 20th 2007 seven members from Calgary Kyokushin
Karate made the trip down to participate or officiate in the 7th
annual Rocky Mountain Tournament. Both Kumite and Kata divisions
were offered for competitors who ventured from as far away as
Edmonton and Parksville. All kumite divisions followed the double
elimination format, allowing competitors to get as much exposure and
experience to knockdown fighting as possible in a short amount of
time.
All
competitors that participated from Calgary did extremely well, those
who placed were Kristin Broderick - third in womenfs kumite and
second in Orange belt kata, Max Wong - first in 15/16 menfs kumite,
Richard Barkman -first in HW menfs Kumite, and Doug Potter - third
in an extremely competitive green belt kata division.
After
the tournament a sayonara party was held at the home of one of the
families from the Rocky Mountain dojo. A wonderful time was had by
all, with great food, great conversation and simply great people.
Congratulations to all, and thank you Cranbrook for another
memorable time.
