2017 Reports | CALGARY FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT

2017 CALGARY FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT

21 October, 2017

The 15th annual Calgary Friendship Tournament was held at the McKenzie Lake Community Centre in Calgary AB on October 21st. This year 122 individuals participated in the event. Divisions were held in non-contact and knockdown kumite as well as Kata. As in the past all participants were put on a team and gathered points for their teams with each victory. The event allows our members a friendly atmosphere to experience what it is like to compete in a tournament. The event also acts as forum to give officials more experience in judging and refereeing .  Results were as follows:

Non-Contact
  • Super light weight – Denis Nacu
  • Light weight – Eden Mawji
  • Middle weight – Ashlee Milligan
  • Heavy weight – Lana Al-digs
  • Adult LW – Judith Tuck
  • Adult HW - Paul Hammond

Knockdown
  • Super lightweight – Hamza Alrouljola
  • Light weight - Lucy Barlow
  • Middle weight -Connor McLeod
  • Heavy weight -Cade McNelly
  • Tean Female- Alyss Bobye
  • Women - Gillian Ried

Kata
  • Tyson Marr
  • Spirit - Carlotta Pereda
  • Spirit - Taya Nield
  • Technical – Denver Bidulka
  • Best New Student - Javier Nava
This year it was team two who ended up in first place with 73 points. Congratulations! As always, whether as a participant, official, marshal or volunteer everyone did an outstanding job and gained very valuable ring experience. This event is only made possible because of the co-operation, time and help of all of the members of Calgary Kyokushin Karate. A great big Thank you goes out to all of you for once again working together to make this happen. THIS IS KARATE.
