2017 REPORTS | LOWer mainland coloured belt tournament
LOWER MAINLAND COLOURED BELT TOURNAMENT
Feb 25, 2017
The 30th Lower Mainland Coloured Belt Tournament was held in Newton BC on February 25, 2017. The tournament was originally started by Sensei Tom Gillam in 1988 who 4 years ago passed the torch to Sensei Jeremy Russell of Cloverdale who continues doing a great job running the event every year.
Deciding to run a tournament is no easy task. Like training, it requires "continuous devotion to the task(s) at hand." Only a handful of individuals take on this incredibly time consuming and often frustrating challenge in the IKOKC. And only those who have taken on this challenge in the past understand the true complexities involved in running an event. I would like to thank Sensei Jeremy, his wife Tracy and all members of his organizing team for making the event possible for all to attend. It is because of dedicated individuals such as Sensei Jeremy that members of the IKOKC have a variety of tournaments to attend. We look forward to next year!
