winter camp
Feb 17-19, 2017
The annual IKOK-C Winter camp was held from February 17-19, 2017 at the Garden Lake Bible Camp in Salmon Arm BC. Participants from dojo's in Alberta and British Columbia attended the 3 day spirited camp. Topics covered included, Kihon, Ido Geiko, Kata, Weapons training, the concept of Zanshin, Kumite and Self-defence. This year 13 Members from Calgary Kyokushin Karate attended the Camp.
Winter Camp also acts as the venue for Dan candidates to go through the board breaking and written exam portions of their grading. Dan candidates also go through an interview process at the camp. It is a nervous time for candidates however the shared feelings amongst them bring them much closer by the end of the process at Summer Camp.
Thank you to all the instructors who brought their best to once again make the weekend a success. The Camp was filled with great training that was highlighted with interesting concepts and ideas regarding Karate training in general.
