Spring Camp 2018
This year marked the 10th Anniversary of Spring Camp in Calgary. If you have never been, it is the perfect opportunity to train hard, learn a lot, and get to know people from other dojo’s. Plus, thanks to Sempai Michelle and her amazing helpers, the food is also something to look forward to!
Due to an unfortunate, “Corn Cob Incident”, Shihan Stuart was unable to attend and was at the dentist instead. Fortunately, Shihan Brad stepped up to the plate, and did not disappoint. As you would expect, training included kihon, kihon combinations, ido geiko and kata. However, the nice thing about Spring Camp, is the chance to do things we don’t normally do…bo kata, break falls and of course…Pad-a-Palooza (high intensity fight training, topped off with 100 burpees)!
With temperatures around 28 degrees, the dojo became unbearably hot at times. Luckily, McKenzie Lake is across the street, and some of us took advantage with a quick dip to cool off. The nice weather also made our annual relay races even more enjoyable. Thankfully, Sempai Rich was there to fill in for Sempai Denis, our resident “Relay Master”. Relay highlights include racing to find your missing shoe and imitating wild animals, sounds and all.
Thank-you everyone, for the learning, support and laughter!
Until next year…
